Today, as some of you might know, is Tu B’shevat. Tu B’shevat is the fifteenth of the Hebrew month of Shevat when we celebrate the new year of the trees.

At school today because of this holiday we had a special program. We had an old guy come talk to us about Tu B’shevat and then every class had, what our school called, an ecological meal.

I can’t really tell you what the guy came to talk about because 1. I don’t understand very much Hebrew and 2. I, like almost every other girl at Hartman, was trying to sleep. Since everyone at school is always tired and our program was very boring, lots of girls were trying to sleep. I didn’t succeed in falling asleep but many girls enjoyed a little nap before being rudely wakened up by an angry teacher.

For the ecological meal, all the girls in my class were supposed to bring in certain food. Our menu included fruit smoothies, yogurt and granola, pitas, cut up veggies, and salad. After preparing the food, we sat down to enjoy.

Our teacher had brought colorful reusable plastic cups for our smoothies which, after drinking smoothies, were washed and decorated with glitter glue for more uses.
