Today, we spent time in the old city.

We walked from Jaffa Gate to Damascus Gate on the ramparts (walking on the old city walls). The views were pretty great but it was a bit scary to be up high on the walls.

After that we went to the Kotel to watch the menorah be lit for the first night of hannukka. We got there early and waited for a while. At some point the police shooed us away from part of the plaza but wouldn’t say why. The area they shooed people from wasn’t really used, but that’s Israel for you!

Then, before heading to dinner, we walked briefly around the Jewish Quarter to see all the lit hannukiot.

View of the Dome of the Rock (taken from the ramparts).

Almost everyone in the Jewish Quarter puts their hannukia outside their home in glass boxes.

So many hannukiot !!!
