Israel is such a small world with a very different culture where the craziest behavior is normal and you know everyone through a mutual friend’s husband’s brother or a previous trip to Israel.

Two weeks ago we received 20 artichokes from an artichoke farmer because our Aunt Talia saw on Facebook that our Jerusalem family friend was helping an artichoke farmer sell their artichokes.

Our mom was going to pick up the artichokes that were a 15 minute walk away, when she received a text message from someone saying she was also going to pick up artichokes and she has a car and could drop them off. Then Ima called the person and found out that they had recently met, and her daughter is a hebrew tutor who could tutor us if we wanted.

Currently there is an egg shortage in Israel which is really horrible, but thankfully it is getting better. When Ima went to the makolet (convenience store) a few weeks ago, to get some groceries and hopefully eggs, she asked the people there if there were any eggs. They said no, but then the owner (who Ima is friendly with) told her not to tell anyone but he had a few eggs for her. Thank god for the owner!

The coronavirus is really terrible and scary but the municipality of Jerusalem has had a few trucks playing music go around the city for people to see and hear. They don’t want people gathering to see the truck so the whereabouts must remain a mystery. If you are lucky, or unlucky in my opinion, you will be out walking and you will start to see and hear a truck playing music just for fun.

Last week on my many WhatsApp school chats girls would text and ask what was the assignment that was due in an hour. A girl was rushing to understand the material and do the assignment, and then she found a website that told her the answers to all the questions. This website apparently works for all our classes, you just search the textbook, page, and question number and then it gives you the answer.
