Two days ago, Alexandra and I went on our first tiyul with Noam (the youth group we are in).
The tiyul was from 8:30 am until 4 pm. It was a very long day! We hiked for about 3 hours with breaks in between to play games and do activities. It was a long hike in the heat, and the view was amazing! We started our hike in Yaar Kennedy (יער קנדי), and we ended our hike in a completely different place.
In the afternoon, we went back to Yaar Kennedy to have an activity, but a few minutes after we got there there was lighting, thunder, wind, and rain. We were going to just leave and get home early, but the busses had just left. So, we were stuck in a National park for over an hour doing nothing while we waited for the buses to come back.
While we waited, I saw a family building a sukkah. Only in Israel do people build sukkot in national parks.
Finally, the buses came back and we got to leave.
The tiyul turned out fine, but I had not been excited for it because of the hike and because we were told to bring 3 liters of water just for the day!!! I had thought that anything that requires you to have 3 liters of water would not be fun and would be a lot of physical activity and or a lot of time in the heat.
I’m glad I went on the tiyul, but I’m not sure I’m up to going on another one.
