This year, as you all know, is a very different Seder (s).

As I am guessing many of you are experiencing, there is a lot to improvise this Pesach. A bonus is that we were able to recline on our couches, but there are quite a few losses. We were not able to acquire a shank bone for our Seder plate. A big problem for us was the Pesach supplies in our apartment. There were only a few meat pesach dishes. They didn’t even have a Seder plate or cups for Elijah and Miriam!

One thing I particularly enjoyed this year was being able to recline on couches and only moving to the table for the meal. We all had lots of pillows to recline on and more than enough haggadahs (3 each).

Our Seder started at 7:30 pm and ended at 1:30 am. Thankfully passing Naomi’s and my rules for Seder; going past 1 am, with lots of singing, good karpas, and brisket (which unfortunately did not turn out well).

Our Seder was definitely abnormal but still ok in the end. I hope everyone had lots to discuss at their Seder and good food to eat.

For school we had to write a Dvar Torah for Seder so I wanted to share part of mine. I came up with four questions about why this year’s Pesach was different. 1. At all other Seders we wash our hands twice, but tonight we wash 20 times. 2. At all other Seders we recall plagues of the past, but this year we are living in the time of a plague. 3. At all other Seders we can walk home afterwards, but this year we are on lockdown. 4. At all other Seders we recline at our table with family and friends, but tonight our table is empty.

Happy Passover and חג שמח!

Our coffee table has all the necessities: grape juice and wine, water, and lots of karpas including, my favorite, guacamole and potato chips.
