It is now the third month (not full month) of school, and I did not have a locker until a few days ago!
Before the school year started, our mom tried to order us lockers online, but since we don’t have teudat zehut (identity card), we can’t order anything online. We decided to just pay for lockers on the first day of school, but there weren’t enough lockers left. Alexandra managed to get a locker in her main classroom (some classrooms have lockers; hers does and mine doesn’t), but I could not get a locker.
The school ordered more lockers, but they didn’t come a little over a week ago. Since I didn’t have a locker for a while, I had to carry a lot of my textbooks and notebooks to and from school everyday. Because I have so many textbooks and notebooks, I couldn’t even fit enough of them for one day in my backpack. So, a few girls in my class let me put some books in in their lockers, which was really nice, but it wasn’t enough space.
I have been waiting for a locker for so long, and I finally have one. Thank goodness!
My waiting paid off because unlike most of the lockers at my school which are an ugly beige color, the new lockers are a pretty blue. They also have a shelf which you can adjust the height of.
This is just one of many complexities of not having a teudat zehut.
