Yesterday was Yom Haatzmaut – יום העצמאות. Because of corona, this year all of the celebrations that would normally happen are on websites, on Facebook, on tv, in videos, etc.
Ima, Alexandra, and I watched some videos, saw the air show of planes flying over hospitals, joined neighbors for a barbecue (all Israelis have barbecues on Yom Haatzmaut), and we took a few really good quizzes about Israel.
We took one quiz about Israeli food. Yummy!! ? And one quiz about Israel in general.
I did pretty well on the food one, but I bombed the other.
Some of the questions from the food quiz included:
• Which Israeli food was created by order of an Israeli prime minister? A) hummus B) tahini C) ptitim (Israeli couscous) D) sabich
• The price of what dairy food caused a social protest in Israel? A) Gouda cheese B) cottage cheese C) whole milk D) yogurt
• How many donuts are eaten in Israel during the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah? A) 6 million B) 9.5 million C) 18 million D) 24 million
Below is the link from which we got the quizzes. The website has lots of videos and other fun stuff including a quiz to tell you what Israeli snack food you are. Apparently, I am a milky (basically pudding). I recommend that everyone do some of the quizzes.
