Yesterday we had another fun day of exploring Rome.
We started off by going to to the Basilica Saint Peter in Chains where we saw a statue of Moses.
The statue of Moses was built by Michelangelo as part of a tomb for Pope Julius II. Michelangelo creates Moses with two horns coming out of his head. The Basilica got its name because inside of it are the chains that held Saint Peter while he was imprisoned.
After the Basilica, we went to the Arch of Constantine and Arch of Titus. Both archs were built to show militia victories.
Our final landmark was the Vittoriano. This building was built in honor of the first king of unified Italy. The building is 70 meters tall, and has an INCREDIBLE view from the top. At the top you can see almost all of Rome, and there were telescopes to be able to see things even clearer.
There are many places to get a great view of Rome because the city is built on seven hills (that also means that you have to walk on a lot of hills).
It feels like a dream to be in Rome, I’m having so much fun, eating great food, of course, and seeing gorgeous sights.
