Yesterday was our last day of the 1st semester, so we had a special program.

Instead of going to our school, we went to the boy’s campus since it is much bigger and nicer (their campus is only a 5 minute walk from our building).

Our special program started out with davening followed by athletic electives. The elective options were yoga, zumba, pilates, hula hoop, jazz, hip hop, and running. I don’t know why anyone would pick running, but a lot of people were in that group. My elective was hula hoop. After that were the performances. There were class dances, solo dances, and the eighth grade hula hoop dances.

This past semester I have had hula hoop class every Tuesday for 45 minutes and dance class every Sunday for 45 minutes. We didn’t actually spend that much time hula hooping, instead we learned tricks with the hula hoop and made a dance. Hula hoop is a class part of our school’s special body, soul, and gratitude curriculum. During the year, every grade has special classes that are part of this program. In eighth grade we have hula hoop, dance, body education, and body language. The way the curriculum works is that your class is split in two by who has danced before and who hasn’t. And then your group has two classes the first semester and the other two the next semester.
