Today, I had an incredible art experience. I went to an art workshop with my mom and we learned about cyanotype. Cyanotype is a art technique where you combine two chemicals, and that chemical mixture becomes sensitive to sun so it turns into this beautiful deep blue once being exposed to the sun.
The process started with painting the cyanotype onto fabric (I choose to do the technique on a pillow case). Then, after letting it dry we laid out our design. The supplies available to us for the design were leaves, rice, letters, stars, and whatever we wanted to draw. After placing the design, we put a piece of glass on top to secure it. We then took the fabric out into the sun for about 10 minutes. Finally, we ran it through water until the water was clear.
I learned so much and had a great time! Whenever you are in Jerusalem next, look up the site Fun In Jerusalem. That’s where we found this workshop.
