Last Thursday, during our one day trip to the north, we participated in a special cooking program where people invite you into their homes to cook.
We went to a Christian Arab home and cooked up a feast with help from the mom. Her husband was also there, as well as one of her daughters and her daughters family that stopped by for a bit.
The program was about 3 and a half hours. First, we saw the view from their roof and the wife told us about her family. Then, we started cooking! While we cooked we obviously tasted as well. Finally, we sat down to eat!!!
We learned a little about the town that the family lived in, which is a mixed Christian and Muslim town. The town is 80% Muslim and 20% Christian. Since there are two religions in the school system, they have off Fridays because of Muslims and Sundays because of Christians.

The view from their roof during sunset. Such pretty colors!

As you can see, making pita is very similar to making matzah. They both can be circular and have holes.

Homemade pita being cooked with a special pita cooker (one pita can go on top and one inside).

My full plate of food. I also had soup, pita, and dessert.

Me, the husband, Ariana, Naomi, the wife, Jill, Susan Monas, Sarah, and our coordinator (from left to right).

P.S. The food was so delicious it wouldn’t even be improved with garlic, let alone anything.
