On Sunday, we went to Caesarea on our way back to Jerusalem from Haifa.

Caesarea is a city that has a lot of ruins from the Byzantines, the Romans, the Crusaders and other time periods. Caesarea is on the beach, so you get a great view of the water while looking at the ruins.

Some of the ruins we saw included mosaics, a hippodrome (an arena commonly used for horse races), a Roman theatre, and a seaside palace with a pool.

Although the ruins were cool, and by that I mean not a waste of my three hours spent there, I believe that if you want to see Roman ruins, you should go to Italy.

Speaking of Italy, after we walked around looking at part of the ruins, we took a break for some much needed gelato.

Later, we ordered sushi and ate it by the beach. The restaurant from which we got the sushi was right next to a gas station, which is surprising because it was a restaurant with fancy food. Its Israeli phenomenon would to have nice restaurant next to gas stations. ;)

The day turned out great, and I think it is because of this flawless equation. Sushi+beach+nice weather= perfect Mother’s Day
