Last Monday, June 25th, Alexandra and I joined Ima on a Pardes walking tour near the Tayelet.

The guide was one of the teachers at Pardes, and did an amazing job! I am picky about what tours I like, especially one where you have to walk (with me being lazy and all that), but I really enjoyed it.

The tour was mostly about the Jerusalem part of the Six Day War in 1967, but I also learned a bunch of random facts about Israel.

The guide said something really funny about the masks that everyone is supposed to be wearing for corona. He said that masks are like the new Israeli kippa. You start wearing it, then you put it in your pocket, then you leave it in your car, and eventually you only put it on when you go to your parents house.

The area where the tour was has three names: The hill of evil council, The great hill, and Governors Castle (ארמון הנציב/armon hanatsiv) – a castle which was built by the British for their governor during the British mandate, and now it is used by the UN.

Some fun facts:

– The Green Line was drawn with a green crayon

– Levi Eshkol was the first Israeli prime minister to be invited to the White House

The tour was incredibly good and I learned so much!
