Two nights ago we arrived in Amman. After dropping off our stuff at the nicest hotel ever, we headed to dinner with Aunt Sara.
For dinner we went to Hashem. Hashem is a famous restaurant that has your classic falafel, pita, hummus, french fries, and more.
Yesterday morning after enjoying breakfast we headed to tour Amman with our friend Issa. Issa was our driver when we went to Petra and he is very nice.
We started off at the Mosque of King Abdullah. The mosque was beautiful with a turquoise and gold ceiling and colorful yet simple stained glass windows. And the carpet was so soft!
Next we went to the citadel. The citadel was full of Roman ruins. There were lots of pillars, a building, great views of Amman, and lots of piles of rocks. Surprisingly, there was a lot of grass up there too. It was so hot out that we did not get to look around at everything. The weather yesterday was in the seventies and it’s only the beginning of March!
For more Roman ruins we went to the Roman Amphitheater. The amphitheater was really big with about 45 rows in the highest areas. Of course we had to climb to the top, so we climbed while Ima visited the museums. In the middle of the amphitheater there was a circle that supposedly has very good acoustics. However, when I tried out the acoustics, they didn’t seem that great.
It got to be too hot for Naomi and I so we drove around the city and got to take it all in from the nice air-conditioned car. We drove around downtown and Rainbow street (don’t ask me why it’s called that) and then drove to the fancy neighborhood full of embassies and rich people’s houses. I was definitely ready to move in to some of those houses.
