Thursday night, June 4th, we went to a restaurant downtown called 1868. We had been trying to check off all the restaurants we wanted to go to or go back to and this was high on our list.

The food we ate was AMAZING. When they reopened after corona, they changed their menu to a tasting menu. You get to try a little bit of many dishes and you choose your main course. Every person at the table is supposed to get their own little tastes but they let us get two for the three of us which was a perfect amount of food.

We had 14 dishes including dessert and the free starter they brought us. Everything was delicious but my favorites were the carrot and lemongrass soup, the pastry stuffed with meat, the duck breast, and all three desserts; honey ice cream with fruit and buckwheat popcorn, an ice cream sandwich, and the chocolate crémeux.

This restaurant was pricey but the service, food, and environment was so good. There was no one there except us until the very end. I highly encourage you go to this restaurant when you are next in Jerusalem.

Take a look at this amazing menu and work on your Hebrew!

Here is the English menu for those of you too lazy to read the menu in Hebrew (which is me) or those of you who are Hebrew impaired.

P.S. All the savory items except the soup would be good with garlic but the soup was so perfect nothing would make it better. And the desserts would be good with (and in some cases, more) chocolate.
